About Us

Our Story :

A Different Kind of Support

Our founders, experienced Mental Health Nurses, saw too many people cycling in and out of hospital, or staying longer than necessary, not because they needed acute care, but because they lacked the right support in the community. They knew that with the right connections, relationships and supports, people could build stability, confidence, and wellbeing in their own homes and in their community.

So they created HavenDoor, a service grounded in clinical expertise, guided by compassion, and built around the idea that every support should be a doorway, not a destination.

Our leadership team brings decades of experience in Mental Health Nursing, Psychosocial Disability, Health Administration, Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation, and Disability Services senior leadership, with two holding a Master of Mental Health Nursing from the University of Newcastle. This expertise shapes everything we do, from staff training to how we respond to subtle changes in a person’s wellbeing.

Our approach is grounded in trauma‑informed, recovery‑oriented practice and shaped by each client’s small, meaningful moments that build confidence and connection.

Clinical oversight isn’t an add‑on at HavenDoor; it’s built into the way we work. Our Mental Health Nurses work alongside support staff from the very first meeting with a client, helping us understand each person’s needs, preferences, triggers, and strengths. This ensures our support is not only compassionate, but informed, responsive, and grounded in best practice.

Today, HavenDoor supports people across Orange, Bathurst, and Dubbo. Our team is trained to recognise early signs of change, respond with sensitivity, and create environments where people feel safe to grow.

Our Philosophy

We believe mental wellbeing is for everyone - whether or not you live with a mental health condition. It’s shaped by the small, everyday things: routines, connection, confidence, and feeling understood. That’s why our Wellbeing Framework supports both mental and physical wellness and is centred on choice. People lead their own journey; we walk beside them.

At HavenDoor, wellbeing isn’t just a goal - it’s the heart of who we are.

A haven to be yourself.

A doorway to possibility.

A partner in your wellbeing.
